Sgt Joel W Lewis
12/2/78 -KIA 5/6/07- Baqubah, Iraq

Joel was a 6'6" gentle giant of a man.  He had a
wonderful smile that would light up a room. He
was very adventuresome and loved to scuba dive,
sky dive, play basketball and hockey.  He loved
animals especially cats and had 5!   Joel was
stationed out of Ft Lewis, WA and was with the
Stryker Brigade.  He was killed on May 6/2007
with 5 other soldiers and a reporter from
Russian Newsweek when their Stryker vehicle
was hit with an  EFP- an explosive stronger than
an IED.   He is dearly loved and missed greatly
by his family who will honor and cherish his
memory for as long as we live.  GOD Bless our
troops and keep them and their families strong
and courageous and may they all return safe
again soon. By his mom Gale

Sgt Eric A Lill June 21, 1979-KIA July 6, 2007

He was born on June 21, 1979 in Chicago, IL, and KIA Iraq July 6, 2007. He was a person that loved to be
around family and friends. He would always try and joke with the folks around him. On his 1st deployment to
Iraq, he received the nickname Frank from the guys with him, because whenever they felt down or couldn't
get going he would say, SUCK IT UP NANCY, just like the father in Everyone Loves Raymond. He always
dreamed of getting into law enforcement when he got out of the army.

Cpl. Derek Calhoun 9-8-83 to 6-23-07
.
Derek was a fun loving child who loved to play tricks on people.  He had a wonderful sense of humor.  He
was very intelligent but also hyperactive which interfered with his accomplishing certain things.  He
going to Wright Business School to graduate with honors as a Certified Medical Assistant.  He fell into a
depression for a couple of years and did nothing but, finally decided to serve his country.  When he left
home on February 3, 2005 to go to boot camp he was just a little boy when he graduated from boot camp
15 weeks later he was a man.  He had matured so much.  Unfortunately we never got to see the real man
he had become.  A letter he had written while in Iraq showed us just how mature he had become.  I really
miss getting to enjoy that part of his life.  He is dearly missed by all.  Right now he would have been
home and probably in nursing school.  He wanted to become an RN when he returned.  We are starting a
Nursing Scholarship Fund in his name at one of our local colleges.  We love you and miss you son.  Mom

Matthew always wanted to be a police man like his father and also wanted to do what was right for our country and so joined the military in order
to protect us and to keep us free. He is our hero and will be missed by so many. His sister Melissa lives her life with the caring and compassion
Matt had for everyone. She will carry on his reason for living. We will miss you, Matt. You are truly our hero. Love, Mom, Dad and Melissa
